What's the Difference Between Counselling and Psychotherapy?

Counselling

Counselling is a professional relationship process that provides a safe, supportive, non-judgemental and confidential space where you can discuss your concerns with us. Counselling is generally short-term and provides assistance with immediate problems related to everyday life. We are trained to carefully listen, raise awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and physiological responses related to your unique experience and context. It is mainly goal-oriented and solution focused in order to facilitate stress reduction and healthier ways of coping.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a professional non-judgemental relationship process that provides a safe, supportive, and confidential space where you can discuss your deeper and longer-standing concerns with us. Psychotherapy is a longer-term process. The process explores the deeper meaning, vision, and purpose of your life.  It involves a deeper journey and insight into how your conscious and unconscious mind works together to contribute to the creation of your life. Psychotherapy addresses the automatic and habituated thoughts, feelings, physiological responses, and behaviors developed in the earlier times of your life. We have specialist training and skills to assist you in developing more choiceful authentic, and creative ways of Being. Psychotherapy brings freedom from the limitation of the past resulting in more presence and engagement in the immediacy of life. It brings lasting positive changes.

  • Short-term and long-term therapy options available.

  • Appointments available in:

    • ​Jamisontown/Penrith;

    • ​Warrimoo (located in the Lower Blue Mountains).

  • Video-link/zoom sessions are also available to anyone in Australia.
